Found this old draft of a post, and since I couldn't remember most of it, here it is.
OK, so the main instance of non-dissonant cognitions, or indissonance, that I have found has been music. Specifically, music written and sung by the same person. A few examples, from a weekend of "in state fuguing", (sudden and unexpected travel from home to hear people sing their own stuff).
Rising Appalicia - a traditional mountain music band wrapped in a hip-hop wrapper (get it rapper/wrapper), cooler than you can imagine for a poor hillbilly kid stuck in the deep south.
VOCO - headed by a chick named Moria, who is obviously the 'leader' of this five woman group and just as obiviously into musical genre from all over the world.
Antje Dukovet - a rising northeastern songs writer who reminds me of both Dar and Lucy and reminds others of Tracy Chapman.
On top of this add new discs from my favorite group, the Small Potatoes, a new group called Red Molly, and the ever genesic Patty Griffin.
What could be better? OK, so maybe getting out of Iraq a couple of decades ago, an end to hunger in the world, Americans living like they are citizens of the planet, of my daughter getting a full ride scholarship to med school. So far only one has happened.
