1968 and 2008

Well, it's a new year.  It's been a tough one so far but hopefully things will improve as the year wears on.  Maybe the war will end, maybe a reasonable person will be elected president, maybe, hopefully.

As I think over the past and the future at year I can't help but remember that year, forty years ago, when I was a 14 year old kid, growing up in suburban Columbus, Ohio.  No idea about anything based in reality, no idea about what that tragically historic year would bring.  MLK, RFK, the Democratic convention, life was moving from the innocence of the 50's to the turmoil of the 70's and I was interested more in playing and finding security than in anything.

Only slowly, very slowly, did I learn about how the life I lead would affect others. Now, forty years later I continue to learn and appreciate how much my choices affect those around me as well as around the world.

You need to post on your blog more often! And check out mine. You can see what I mean by "indie" music.

See you Sunday?
