Four days and Eight states in

So far, so good, sort of.

For me there is not better drive than the up the spine of West Virginia and through the tunnel into Pittsburgh. The scenery on the trip and the entrance into the most beautiful view among American cities always brings a smile to my face, you know the smile, it's the one you put on when you realize that you are doing something that you can't believe you are doing.

And that was just Friday!

Saturday brought a visit to the Beleaza Coffee Shop and then the studios of the radio show, the Saturday Light Brigade, and a chat with Rikki and Larry Berger about their wonderful family radio show (www.slbradio.org). Great live music including a young cellist, a Welsh tenor, and a very good bluegrass quartet. Then it was off to find my oldest sister and her daughter who were in town to get the latter on the train to NYC . She has two interviews , one for an internship and one for a summer job. (Word is that both interviews went well). I won't go into the fact that while we were at lunch the Malibu and Bike got towed to an impound lot somewhere on the North Side except to say that I meet three very nice and very interesting fellow "towees." Odd thing was the Big Dawg Towing Service named his service DAWG after seeing a similar name, and exact spelling of DAWG while on a trip to Georgia. The evening closed out with my brother and his son at PNC Park watching a game between the home town favs and the out of town Cubs. The home town team prevailed, but only after 14 innings. Smiles all around!

Sunday brought the family reunion in Moundsville, lots of cousins and food and good times. I pitched some baseballs to the ball playing offspring of multiple cousins' childrens' children, watched coal barges and various other floating craft cruise the big bend in the Ohio and went for a bike ride on the bike path up to Glen Dale. I closed out the day with a drive to Reynoldsburg.

Memorial Day brought a nice long bike ride to see friends with my recumbent riding brother in law, Art. A wonderful day during which I have not yet increased my carbon footprint. Tomorrow should be more of the same and maybe a stop by Doug's version of Vick's for some pizza.

DAWGs? In Pennsylvania? How cool is that, but sorry to hear that Zenbu and bike got towed. Sounds like you're having a very good time, all in all. Drive slowly back and keep that carbon to a minimum and enjoy the ride. See you in Licensing Land eventually.
