Close Friends

Life turns back on itself from time to time and it has once again done so for me.  A distant friend recently contacted me about her current situation and it was like old times, like very old times in the 70's old times.  It was so simple to slip back into the old friendship, never mind the intervening decades, the children, the jobs, or the relationships.  The adage, a friend in need is a friend indeed, comes to mind, as does the fact that love never really dies.

How close to you have to be to be a friend?  The distance from Georgia to Canada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia seems very small when there is a need.

How do you define a friend? Someone you chat with over the I-net, someone you chat with over a phone, someone you see less than once in a blue moon.

Life folds itself and distance gets folded and time gets folded.  Life seems linear but maybe it's really circular.

I think that life is an ascending (hopefully) spiral, where you pass by similar points repeatedly, but always a little further on, gaining a little more perspective each time. The good things we continue to pull upward, and the bad (hopefully) we slowly leave behind.
or maybe it's like a tomato. Red and mushy.
Tag, you're it. BTW, "HAMP" is south-ga redneck for "Yup," just with more feeling.
